01About the client

JDIH BNPT is the legal documentation and information network within the National Counter Terrorism Agency. The portal gathers legal documents in the field of counter-terrorism, from laws and regulations, court decisions, legal monographs, and legal articles, to policy paper documents, drafts, evaluation analyses, minutes, and studies and research.

02Challenge

Users arrive with fragments, not titles: sometimes they only know the document type, sometimes only the legal field, sometimes only the year. A search that demands a full title shuts the door on most of them. The second problem is riskier: one regulation can be amended or revoked by another while its title and number stay the same, so a user who downloads a file without seeing its status may cite a rule that is no longer valid. On top of that, a legal documentation network must report its management achievements, so the figures have to be shown rather than kept in an internal report.

03Legia's approach

Document search sits directly in the hero with three filters, document type, legal field, and year, so a user holding only one of them can still start. Document types are also shown as ten cards with their data counts, so the collection is visible before anyone types anything. The document detail page puts metadata in the left column and regulation status in the right, with the regulations that amend and revoke it written as links, so validity status is read together with the document rather than after downloading. PDF files can be previewed first, and management statistics, the number of formations, published documents, and validity status, are shown as charts in the profile section.
